Resolution

Hello!
It's a new year, and a new blog - anonymous, this time. I'm going to write about reading, writing and life inbetween... that's the plan, anyway.

So, got any resolutions for the new year? Aside from the usual get-fit and stop-shouting-at-the-children types, I've set myself a reading challenge: I'm going to try to read 100 books in 2009, and I'll tell you my thoughts about them right here. I got a few new ones for Christmas - one by C J Sansom from my brother-in-law - not my usual cup of char, I must confess but I'll give it a go. I also got Nigella's Christmas - does that count?

Pre-Crimbo I treated myself to Wicked by Jilly Cooper which I found in the charity shop - a bargain at £1.50, especially as it has about 1,000 pages. I am enjoying it enormously so far, the sort of book I find myself carrying around the house, hoping to sneak a few more pages whenever I've a spare minute or two. Love all the puns, the sauciness, the heaving bosoms, the goodies, the snakes-in-the-grass - ahh, it's fabulous. Just what you need on a cold January day when the kids are all bickering about what film they want to watch.

There are some classics I'd like to re-read this year - including The Great Gatsby, Emma and Nicholas Nickleby, and somenew-to-me authors I'd like to try, ie Anthony Trollope (never read anything by him but feel I ought to). And anything else that takes my fancy!
